Resource Directory

Welcome to the Arkansas Disability Coalition's Online Resource Directory. Here you will find information and resources about a variety of topics designed to help families who have a child or youth with special health care needs.

We are in the process of adding resources to this website. If you don’t see what you are looking for, contact ADC Directly so that we can help you find what you need. If you know about a resource that would help families, please click here to suggest an organization or agency that should be added to this Resource Directory.

RESOURCE DIRECTORY AREAS

Diagnosis-Specific Information
Find information about a specific diagnosis, such as ADD or ADHD, autism and autism spectrum disorders, behavioral difficulties or emotional delays, developmental delays, etc. Resources include diagnosis-specific education, support groups, associations, and programs that work with people who have a specific diagnosis.

Caregiver Support & Respite Care
Being a caregiver can be difficult, but there are resources for people who need support or an occasional break in caregiving responsibilities.

Education, School, & Child Care
A quality education is critical for all children with disabilities. Learn about IEPs, the Department of Education, university and college disability support services, and other resources about education support.

Insurance & Health Care Coverage
Learn more about how to deal with insurance companies and use your health care coverage. Learn about TEFRA, Medicaid, Medicaid waivers, and how health reform (the Affordable Care Act) may affect your family.

Although financial assistance can be difficult to find and very limited, some direct financial assistance is available through a number of avenues. Children and adults with developmental disabilities may qualify for cash subsidies and/or various federal or state programs. Learn about the Social Security Administration, Department of Human Services (Division of County Operations), SNAP (food stamps), Transitional Employment Assistance (TEA), and other financial assistance here. Also find help with financial planning for families dealing with a disability.

These resources cover several of the above information categories, and primarily will include Arkansas Children's Hospital (ACH) and the Arkansas Department of Human Services (DHS).
